In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

When Everything Feels Like It’s Closing In

There are moments when it feels like everything is closing in at once. The responsibilities keep coming, the problems don't seem to stop, and somehow you're still the one everyone expects to hold everything together. You keep showing up, keep making decisions, keep taking care of everyone else—but inside, you're thinking, “I don't know how much more I can carry.”

The truth is, God never asked you to carry everything by yourself.

Sometimes we become so accustomed to being the strong one that we forget we are allowed to say, “Lord, I can't do this without You.” That isn't weakness. That is surrender. It is recognizing that our strength has limits, but God's does not.

Psalm 55:22 tells us to cast our burdens on the Lord. Not organize them. Not carry them more gracefully. Not pretend they aren't heavy. Cast them. Give them to Him.

Maybe today you don't have the answers. Maybe you don't know how everything is going to work out. Maybe there are things happening around you that you simply cannot fix. That's okay. You don't have to know how God is going to work it out before you trust Him with it.

And perhaps the hardest part is accepting that you cannot hold everything together. But maybe that's exactly where God wants you—to stop trying to be the one who holds everything together and allow Him to hold you.

You can still be responsible without carrying every burden. You can still care without controlling every outcome. You can still show up without pretending you're okay. And you can still be strong while admitting that you need God.

So if everything feels like it's closing in today, take a breath. Put down what was never yours to carry. Give God the situation, the people, the decisions, the uncertainty, and the things you cannot control.

He can carry what you cannot.

Psalm 55:22 NIV

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

What am I carrying right now that I need to give completely to God?

Have I confused being strong with having to handle everything myself?

What would it look like today to let God carry me instead of trying to carry everything on my own?

Can I trust God even when I don't know how He is going to work everything out?

Take a moment today to declare:

“Lord, I can't hold everything together, but You can. I release my burdens to You. I release the pressure, the responsibility, the fear, and the things I cannot control. Breathe in Your peace. Breathe out the weight. Breathe in Your strength. Breathe out the need to have everything figured out. I don't have to carry it all because I have You.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Lord, You know how heavy everything feels right now. You know the responsibilities, the expectations, the decisions, and the things that are weighing on my heart. I confess that I cannot hold everything together on my own. Help me stop trying to do what only You can do. Teach me to cast my burdens on You and trust that You will sustain me. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that I am not alone and that I don't have to have all the answers. Hold me when I feel like I cannot hold anything else. Give me Your strength for today and Your peace for what I cannot control.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
