In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

Lord, Take Away What Is Not Meant For Me
Sometimes we want something so badly that we begin convincing ourselves that it must be what God has for us. We pray for it, imagine it, hold onto it, and hope that somehow God will make it happen. But what if what we want isn't what God wants for us?
There is a powerful prayer we can learn to pray: “God, if You don't want it for me, remove the taste from my mouth.”Remove the desire that keeps pulling me toward something You know isn't good for me. Take away the attachment. Change my heart. Help me stop craving what You have not called me to have.
That kind of prayer requires surrender because sometimes we don't want God to remove the desire—we want Him to fulfill it. But trusting God means believing that His “no” can be just as loving as His “yes.” He sees what we cannot see. He knows what is ahead. He knows which doors will bring life and which ones will eventually bring disappointment.
David said, “I delight to do thy will, O my God.” Notice that he didn't say, “I delight when God does what I want.” His heart was learning to delight in God's will. That is where true freedom comes from—when we can honestly say, “Lord, I want what You want, even if it is different from what I thought I wanted.”
So today, surrender the desire. Surrender the person. Surrender the opportunity. Surrender the outcome. If it is from God, He doesn't need us to force it. And if it isn't from Him, we can trust Him enough to let it go.
Psalm 40:8 NIV
“I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.”
Is there something I am holding onto that I need to surrender to God?
Can I honestly ask God to remove a desire if it isn't His will for me?
Am I more attached to what I want, or to what God wants for me?
Take a moment today to declare:
“Lord, if You don't want it for me, remove the taste from my mouth. Give me the grace to release it, the strength to stop pursuing it, and the wisdom to recognize Your will. Align my heart with Yours. Let me breathe in Your peace and breathe out my need to control the outcome. If it is meant for me, let it come from You. If it is not, give me peace to let it go.”

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I surrender my desires to You. If there is anything I am pursuing that You have not ordained for me, please remove the taste from my mouth. Take away the attachment, the longing, and the need to make it happen. Give me peace when You close a door and faith to trust that Your plans are better than mine. Teach my heart to delight in Your will, even when it is not what I expected. I don't want something simply because I want it—I want what You want for me.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
