Daily Devotionals & Reflections

In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”
Jeremiah 29:12–13 (NLT)

I Can Hear You in the Sound of the Wind, Lord

There are moments when God reminds us that His presence can be found in the quietest places.

Sometimes I hear the wind moving through the trees, and something in me becomes still. It feels like a gentle reminder: God is here.

I may not hear an audible voice, but I can feel the peace that comes when I stop long enough to listen. The wind reminds me that there are things I cannot see but can still experience. I cannot see the wind itself, but I can see what it moves.

Perhaps that is part of what faith is—learning to recognize God's presence even when I cannot see Him.

Elijah was looking for God in the earthquake, the fire, and the powerful things happening around him. But God came in a still, small voice.

Sometimes we are so busy looking for God to do something big that we miss the gentle ways He reminds us that He is near.

Maybe it's the sound of the wind. Maybe it's the quiet after a long day. Maybe it's a moment of unexpected peace. Maybe it's a Scripture that suddenly speaks directly to your heart.

God knows how to get our attention.

So today, I want to slow down.

I want to listen.

When the wind blows, let it remind me that God is near. Let it remind me that even when I cannot see Him, He is still moving. Even when I cannot hear an audible voice, He can still speak to my heart.

Lord, I hear You in the sound of the wind.

And for a moment, I don't need anything else.

I just need to know that You are here.

1 Kings 19:12 NIV

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”

When was the last time I stopped long enough to simply recognize God's presence?

What quiet moments have reminded me that God is near?

Am I listening for God, or am I too busy looking for signs?

What is God perhaps whispering to my heart today?

Take a moment today to declare:

“Lord, I hear You in the sound of the wind. I may not see You, but I know You are near. Help me slow down enough to recognize Your presence. Speak to my heart in the quiet places. When the world becomes loud, draw me back to You. Breathe in Your peace. Breathe out the noise, the worry, and the things I cannot control. I am listening, Lord. My heart is open. Speak, and I will listen.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Father, thank You for the gentle reminders of Your presence. Thank You for the moments when You quiet my heart and remind me that I am not alone. Help me recognize You not only in the extraordinary moments but also in the simple, quiet ones. When I hear the wind, let it remind me that You are near and that You are still moving, even when I cannot see what You are doing. Give me a heart that is quiet enough to hear You and willing enough to follow You.
In Jesus' name,

Amen.
