Praying for Those Who Don’t Yet Know They Can Turn to God

Today, I want to pray for the people who are hurting but don't know where to turn. The people carrying heavy burdens in silence. The ones who feel overwhelmed, frightened, broken, or completely alone. The ones trying to figure everything out by themselves because they don't yet know that they can call on God.

There are people who have never been taught that God is not only someone we worship when life is good—He is someone we can run to when life is falling apart. He invites us to call upon Him in our day of trouble. We don't have to have the right words. We don't have to understand everything. We simply have to call.

Some people turn to money, relationships, substances, distractions, or their own strength because they don't know that God is available to them. Some may have been hurt by people who represented God poorly, causing them to believe that He is distant or uninterested in their lives. Others may know about God but have never experienced what it means to actually surrender their pain to Him.

Today, let our prayer be that they discover Him.

Let us pray for the person who is sitting in a hospital room wondering what will happen next. The parent who doesn't know how they will provide. The person whose marriage is falling apart. The young person battling thoughts they don't know how to express. The person grieving someone they love. The person who has made mistakes and believes they have gone too far. The person who feels like there is no way out.

God, let them know they can call on You.

Sometimes God will use us to be the person who reminds someone else that they don't have to walk through their situation alone. A conversation, a prayer, a testimony, a kind word, or simply showing someone the love of Christ may be the very thing that causes them to look toward God for the first time.

We may never know how many people are quietly watching how we respond to our own difficult seasons. Our faith can become an invitation for someone else to seek God.

So today, I pray not only for those who already know how to run to God, but for those who don't know that they can. May they discover that God is near. May they experience His love. May someone cross their path who will point them toward Him. And when they finally call, may they discover that He was there all along.

Psalm 50:15 NIV

“Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”

Do I know someone who may be hurting but doesn't know they can turn to God?

Am I willing to be the person God uses to point someone toward Him?

How can my own testimony help someone understand that God is available in their time of need?

Do I truly believe that God is my refuge when trouble comes?

Take a moment today to declare:
“Lord, I pray for those who don't yet know they can turn to You. Find them in their pain. Meet them in their confusion. Let them know they are not alone. Breathe in Your presence. Breathe out fear. Breathe in Your hope. Breathe out despair. Put someone in their path who will point them toward You. And use me, Lord, whenever You need someone to remind another person that they can call upon You.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Lord, today I lift up every person who is hurting and doesn't know where to turn. Meet them exactly where they are. Let them discover that You are not distant, unreachable, or uninterested in their lives. Show them that they can call upon You in their day of trouble.

For those who feel hopeless, give them hope. For those who are afraid, give them peace. For those who feel alone, remind them that You are near. For those who feel unforgiven, show them Your mercy. And for those who don't yet know You, place people in their lives who will lovingly point them toward You.

Give us eyes to recognize the people around us who are hurting and hearts willing to reach out. Let our lives, our words, our prayers, and our testimonies become a bridge that leads someone closer to You.

May those who don't yet know they can call on You discover thatYou have been waiting for them to call.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
