THE COVENANT
Daily Devotionals & Reflections
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”
Jeremiah 29:12–13 (NLT)
October 6, 2026
Sometimes I think I need to do something to make everything better. I pray, I think, I plan, I try to fix things, and I keep searching for the next answer. But sometimes God is asking me to do something that feels much harder: be still.
Being still doesn't mean giving up. It doesn't mean I stop caring or stop believing. It means I stop trying to control what belongs in God's hands.
There are situations I cannot fix, people I cannot change, doors I cannot open, and answers I cannot force. I can spend all my energy trying to make things happen, but God may be asking me to step back and let Him be God.
That is difficult for me because being still requires trust. It means believing that God is working even when I am not doing anything to make it happen.
So today, I am reminding myself that I don't always need another plan, another answer, or another attempt. Sometimes I simply need to quiet my heart and remember who God is.
He is God. He is still in control. And I can be still.
Psalm 46:10 KJV
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
When God Is Teaching Me To Be Still
What am I trying to control that I need to place back into God's hands?
Can I be still without feeling like I am doing nothing?
What would it look like for me to truly trust God in this season?
Take a moment today to declare:
“I will be still and remember that You are God. I don't have to fix everything. I don't have to control every outcome. I don't have to have every answer. I can trust You with what I cannot change, what I cannot understand, and what I cannot see. I release my need to control and choose to rest in You.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Teach me how to be still. Quiet the thoughts that make me feel like I have to figure everything out. Help me release the things I cannot control and trust You to work in Your way and Your timing. When I feel the need to act out of fear, remind me that You are already working. Give me peace while I wait and faith while I cannot see.
Amen.
