THE COVENANT
Daily Devotionals & Reflections
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”
Jeremiah 29:12–13 (NLT)
October 3, 2026
Lord, I don’t understand.
There are things happening in my life right now that I cannot explain. I have prayed, I have trusted, I have tried to be patient, and still, I don't understand why some things are happening the way they are.
Sometimes I want God to show me the whole picture. I want to know what He is doing, where He is leading me, and how everything is going to work out. But this verse reminds me that I cannot always understand the work of God.
Just like I cannot see the path of the wind, I cannot always see where God is moving. Just because I cannot see it does not mean He isn't working.
I may not understand the why, but I can trust the Who.
God is the Maker of all things. He sees what I cannot see. He knows what I don't know. He understands what I cannot understand. And even when His work is hidden from me, it is never hidden from Him.
So today, I am giving God my questions. I am giving Him my confusion. I am giving Him the things I keep trying to figure out on my own. I don't need to have every answer before I can have peace.
Lord, I don't understand—but I trust that You do.
Ecclesiastes 11:5 KJV
“As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in the womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.”
Lord, I Do Not Understand
What am I trying to understand or control that I need to surrender to God?
Can I trust God even when I cannot see what He is doing?
What would it look like for me to have peace without having all the answers?
Take a moment today to declare:
“Lord, I don't understand everything You are doing, but I trust You. I don't need to see the whole picture because You already do. When I cannot see Your hand, I will trust Your heart. I release my questions, my confusion, and my need for answers. I choose faith over fear and trust over trying to figure everything out. You are working, even when I cannot see it.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
There are things I don't understand, and honestly, sometimes that is hard for me. I want answers. I want to know what You are doing and why You are allowing certain things to happen. But help me remember that I don't have to understand everything to trust You. When I cannot see Your hand, help me trust Your heart. Give me peace in the uncertainty and faith to keep moving forward. I surrender my need to understand and choose to believe that You are still working.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
