Learning To Listen

We often ask God to speak.

We pray for direction.
We pray for answers.
We pray for wisdom.

But sometimes the challenge is not that God isn't speaking.

It's that we are not listening.

Life is noisy.

There are opinions from others, distractions, responsibilities, fears, and our own thoughts competing for attention. In the middle of all that noise, God's voice can be easy to miss—not because He is silent, but because we have become accustomed to listening to everything else first.

Learning to listen is a discipline.

It requires slowing down.
It requires making room for God.
It requires a heart that is willing not only to hear His voice, but also to obey it.

Sometimes God's guidance comes through Scripture.

Sometimes through prayer.

Sometimes through a quiet conviction that keeps drawing us toward His will.

The more time we spend with Him, the more familiar His voice becomes.

And the more familiar His voice becomes, the easier it is to recognize His direction when decisions need to be made.

Today, instead of rushing ahead with your own plans, take time to listen.

Pause before reacting.
Pray before deciding.
Seek God's wisdom before moving forward.

Because God is not only interested in leading you.

He is teaching you how to hear Him.

Remember:

“The closer I stay to God, the clearer His voice becomes.”

John 10:27 NIV

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

What voices have been competing for my attention lately?

Am I making time to listen to God, or only asking Him to listen to me?

How can I create more space for God's voice in my daily life?

As you breathe in, whisper: “Speak, Lord.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “Your servant is listening.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

Lord,

Help me quiet the distractions around me and the noise within me. Teach me to recognize Your voice and to trust Your guidance.

Give me a heart that listens, a spirit that obeys, and the wisdom to follow where You lead.

May I grow closer to You each day and become more attentive to what You are saying.

Amen.
