In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

Aligning My Will With His
There are many things I bring before God in prayer.
My plans.
My hopes.
My concerns.
The things I would like to see happen.
And if I’m honest, sometimes I come to Him already knowing what outcome I’m hoping for.
But prayer is not only about asking God to bless my plans. It is also about allowing Him to shape my heart so that my will begins to align with His.
That can be one of the most difficult prayers to pray.
Because aligning my will with God’s will means surrendering control. It means trusting that His understanding is greater than mine and that His timing is wiser than anything I could plan.
Jesus Himself modeled this kind of surrender when He prayed in the garden:
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
— Luke 22:42 (NIV)
Even in the hardest moment, Jesus chose alignment with the Father.
And that is the posture I want to learn.
Not forcing outcomes.
Not clinging tightly to my own expectations.
But trusting that God sees what I cannot see and knows what I cannot know.
Aligning my will with His does not mean giving up hope. It means placing my hope in the One who sees the full picture.
Today, I come before Him not just with requests, but with openness — asking Him to shape my heart, guide my steps, and lead me in His perfect will.
Matthew 6:10 NIV
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Where have you been holding tightly to your own plans?
What would it look like to surrender that situation to God today?
How might trusting His will bring peace to your heart?
As you breathe in, whisper: “Your will.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “Not mine.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Help me align my heart with Your will.
When I become focused on my own plans, remind me that Your ways are higher and Your wisdom is greater.
Give me the humility to surrender and the faith to trust where You are leading.
Today, I choose Your will above my own.
Amen.
