In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

Loving God Means Loving People
It’s easy to say we love God.
We say it in prayer.
We say it in worship.
We say it when things are going well.
But scripture gently challenges us with a deeper question: How does that love show up in the way we treat others?
Because loving God was never meant to stay only between Him and us.
It flows outward.
It shows up in patience when someone is difficult.
It shows up in kindness when someone misunderstands us.
It shows up in grace when someone falls short.
Sometimes loving people is the hardest part of faith. People can disappoint us, frustrate us, or hurt us. And if we’re honest, there are moments when it feels easier to keep our distance.
But God reminds us that the love we receive from Him is meant to move through us.
Not because everyone will always deserve it.
Not because people will always return it.
But because His love changes the way we see others.
When the love of our Lord and Savior fills our hearts, it allows us to see the beauty in people — even in their imperfections. It reminds us that everyone we encounter is someone God created, someone He cares about deeply.
Loving our neighbors doesn’t mean we ignore boundaries or pretend hurt doesn’t exist. It means we choose to respond from the love God has already given us.
Today, I want my love for God to be more than words. I want it to be visible in how I speak, how I respond, and how I treat the people around me.
Because loving Him and loving others were never meant to be separated.
1 John 4:20 NIV
“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.”
Is there someone you have struggled to show love or grace toward recently?
How might remembering God’s love for you help you respond differently?
What small act of kindness could you show someone today?
As you breathe in, whisper: “Fill me with Your love.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “Help me share it.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for loving me with patience, grace, and mercy.
Help me reflect that same love to the people around me.
When it feels difficult, remind me that Your love flows through me.
Teach me to see others the way You see them — with compassion and kindness.
Amen.
