THE COVENANT
Daily Devotionals & Reflections
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

Stay Close
Sometimes we think closeness with God requires something big.
More time.
More effort.
More perfect moments.
But God’s invitation is actually simple:
Come near.
Not when everything is together.
Not when you have all the answers.
Not when you feel strong.
Just come.
There are days when we feel spiritually steady, and coming near feels natural. But there are also days when we feel distracted, tired, or even distant.
And in those moments, it can feel easier to pull away.
But distance doesn’t come from God moving — it comes from us drifting.
The beauty of this verse is the promise attached to it:
When we come near, He comes near.
Not reluctantly.
Not slowly.
But faithfully.
Closeness with God is not about perfection — it’s about posture.
A heart that turns toward Him.
A moment set aside to acknowledge Him.
A simple prayer whispered in the middle of the day.
Sometimes staying close looks like reading His Word.
Sometimes it looks like quieting your thoughts.
Sometimes it’s just saying, “Lord, I’m here.”
And that is enough.
Because God is not waiting for a perfect version of you.
He is waiting for you.
So today, don’t overcomplicate it.
Just come near.
James 4:8 NIV
“Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
Where have you felt distant from God lately?
What is one simple way you can draw closer to Him today?
How can you make space, even in a small way, to turn your heart toward Him?
As you breathe in, whisper: *l“Draw me near.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I come to You.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You that You are always near and that You welcome me just as I am.
Help me not to overcomplicate my relationship with You. Teach me to simply come near, even in small and quiet ways.
Draw my heart closer to You and help me remain aware of Your presence throughout my day.
Amen.
