Revelation with Discernment
There are moments when we desire to hear from God more clearly.
We read His Word…
We pray…
We seek understanding…
Yet something feels just beyond our grasp.
In those moments, what we need is not more information — we need revelation.
Revelation is when God takes truth and makes it come alive within us. It’s when something shifts from being something we understand to something we know deep in our spirit.
But as we ask for revelation, we must also ask for something equally important:
Discernment.
Because not every thought is from God.
Not every impression is His voice.
Not every feeling is truth.
God does speak. He does reveal. But His voice will always reflect His nature.
So how do we walk in both revelation and discernment?
First, His voice will always align with His Word. God does not contradict Himself. What He reveals will always be consistent with Scripture.
Second, it will produce a sense of peace, not confusion. Even when God corrects or challenges us, there is a steadiness in it — not pressure or chaos.
Third, it will draw us closer to Him. True revelation deepens our relationship with God. It doesn’t lead us away from dependence on Him.
Fourth, it will carry humility, not pride. God’s voice shapes our hearts, not our ego.
Revelation without discernment can lead to confusion.
Discernment without revelation can lead to dryness.
But when the two come together, something beautiful happens.
We begin to recognize His voice more clearly.
We grow in confidence, not in ourselves, but in Him.
And our relationship with God becomes deeper and more personal.
Sometimes the simplest prayer is the most powerful:
“Lord, reveal what is from You, and help me discern what is not.”
God is faithful. He is not trying to confuse you. As you seek Him, He will guide you — gently, clearly, and in His perfect timing.
Because the goal is not just to hear something new…
It is to know Him more.
1 John 4:1 NIV
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God"
Is there something you’ve been seeking clarity or understanding about?
Have you invited both revelation and discernment into that space?
How does what you’re sensing align with God’s Word and His character?
As you breathe in, whisper: “Give me revelation.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “Give me discernment.”

Closing Prayer
Lord,
I desire to know You more deeply. Give me wisdom and revelation so that Your truth comes alive in my heart.
At the same time, give me discernment to recognize what is truly from You. Help me stay grounded in Your Word and sensitive to Your Spirit.
Reveal what is from You, and remove what is not.
Guide my heart, my thoughts, and my steps.
Amen.
