Jehovah Mekoddishkem — The Lord Who Is Still Working on Me
Some days I wake up feeling spiritually strong.
Other days, I’m reminded very quickly that I’m still a work in progress.
I still react when I should pause.
I still struggle with habits I thought I’d moved past.
I still catch myself saying, I should be further along by now.
That’s where the name Jehovah Mekoddishkem meets me.
Jehovah Mekoddishkem means the Lord who sanctifies — the God who is actively shaping us, setting us apart, and making us holy over time. Not all at once. Not overnight. But faithfully.
This name reminds me that growth isn’t instant — it’s intentional.
God never said I would be finished in a moment. He promised that He would be faithful in the process. Sanctification is not about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s God gently refining my heart, my choices, and my character as I walk with Him.
Scripture says:
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)
What brings me peace is knowing that sanctification isn’t something I do for God — it’s something God does in me. My role isn’t to rush the process or condemn myself when I fall short. My role is to stay surrendered. To keep coming back. To stay teachable.
Jehovah Mekoddishkem doesn’t give up on us when we stumble. He stays. He corrects with love. He continues His work — even when we’re frustrated with ourselves.
Today, I’m choosing to give myself grace while still staying committed to growth. To trust that God is working, even when the change feels slow.
I’m not finished — and that’s okay.
God is still sanctifying me.
Leviticus 20:8 NIV
“I am the Lord, who makes you holy.”
Where do you feel frustrated with your growth right now?
What might it look like to trust God with the process instead of rushing it?
How can you stay surrendered to what God is shaping in you?
As you breathe in, whisper: “You are still working.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I surrender.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Jehovah Mekoddishkem, Lord who sanctifies,
Thank You for being patient with me as You shape my life.
When I’m discouraged by my slow progress, remind me that You are faithful in the process.
Help me stay surrendered, teachable, and open to Your refining work.
Give me grace for myself and courage to keep growing.
Today, I trust You to continue what You have started in me,
knowing that You are the Lord who makes me holy.
Amen.
