Daily Devotionals & Reflections
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

Jehovah Rohi — The Lord My Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”
Today I’m resting in the name Jehovah Rohi — the Lord my Shepherd.
This name meets me in a very personal way. A shepherd doesn’t rush the sheep or demand they know the path ahead. A shepherd walks with them. Leads them. Watches over them — especially when they are tired, uncertain, or prone to wander.
And if I’m honest, that’s often where I find myself.
There are seasons when I don’t feel lost — just unsure. Unsure of timing. Unsure of direction. Unsure of what the next right step should be. In those moments, Jehovah Rohi reminds me that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own.
A shepherd goes ahead.
A shepherd stays near.
A shepherd takes responsibility for the care of the flock.
When God reveals Himself as Jehovah Rohi, He’s telling us something comforting and steady: You are not leading yourself — I am.
Scripture says:
— Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
That kind of care softens me.
Jehovah Rohi doesn’t lead by pressure or fear. He leads with patience. He knows when to slow us down. He knows when to guide us beside still waters. He knows what we need even when we don’t yet have the words for it.
My part isn’t to run ahead of Him or panic when the path feels unclear.
My part is to listen.
To trust.
To follow — one step at a time.
Jesus reinforces this when He says:
— John 10:11 (NIV)
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
Knowing God as my Shepherd changes how I carry my days. It reminds me that I am seen, cared for, and guided — not driven. Even when the road feels unfamiliar, I am not alone on it.
Today, I want to walk a little slower. Listen a little more closely. And trust that Jehovah Rohi is leading me exactly where I need to go.
Psalm 23:1 NIV
Reflection
Where do you feel unsure or in need of guidance right now?
What would it look like to slow down and trust the Shepherd’s lead?
How can you listen more closely for His voice today?
As you breathe in, whisper: “You are my Shepherd.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I will follow.”
Closing Prayer
Jehovah Rohi, my Shepherd,
Thank You for leading me with patience, care, and love.
When I feel unsure of the path ahead, help me trust Your guidance.
When I feel tired or overwhelmed, remind me that You carry what I cannot.
Teach me to listen for Your voice and follow without fear.
Today, I choose to rest in Your care,
trusting You to lead me step by step.
Amen.
