El Olam — The Everlasting God

After resting in Jehovah Shammah — the Lord who is there — today my heart settles into El Olam — the Everlasting God.

This name slows me down.

In a world where everything feels temporary — seasons change, circumstances shift, people come and go — El Olam reminds me that God is not bound by time the way I am. He existed long before this moment, and He will still be God long after it passes.

That truth brings comfort.

There are days when I worry about what’s ahead. When I replay the past. When I feel the pressure of timelines — answers I want now, healing I hoped would come sooner, doors I thought would already be open.

El Olam meets me there.

God isn’t rushed.

He isn’t surprised.

He isn’t late.

He sees the full picture — the beginning, the middle, and the end — all at once. And because He is everlasting, I can trust Him with seasons that feel uncertain or unfinished.

El Olam reminds me that this moment does not define the whole story. What I’m walking through right now is part of something bigger — something held in the hands of a God who has never failed and never will.

My part isn’t to figure out how everything will work out.

It’s to trust the One who stands outside of time.

To stay faithful in this season, knowing He is already in the next.

Today, I want to rest in that truth — not anxious about what’s ahead, not stuck in what’s behind, but grounded in the God who remains the same.

Psalm 90:2 NIV
“Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

What feels uncertain or unfinished in your life right now?

Where are you feeling the pressure of time?

How might your heart rest if you trusted the Everlasting God with it all?

As you breathe in, whisper: “You are everlasting.”

As you breathe out, whisper: “I trust Your timing.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

El Olam, Everlasting God,

Thank You for being unchanging in a constantly changing world.

When we feel rushed, uncertain, or impatient, help us trust Your timing.

Remind us that You see the full story and are faithfully at work in every season.

Today, we place our future, our waiting, and our hopes in Your hands,

resting in the truth that You are God — from everlasting to everlasting.

Amen.
