THE COVENANT
Daily Devotionals & Reflections
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

No Going Back
After something powerful… it’s easy to slip back.
Back into old thoughts.
Back into old habits.
Back into old ways of carrying things.
Easter reminds us that something has changed.
But the days after?
That’s where the real choice comes in.
Because even though freedom has been given…
you still have to choose to stay in it.
It’s familiar to go back.
It’s easy to pick up old mindsets.
It’s comfortable to respond the way you always have.
But just because it’s familiar doesn’t mean it’s where you belong anymore.
You’ve been brought out for a reason.
Out of fear.
Out of heaviness.
Out of ways of thinking that kept you stuck.
So why return to what God already freed you from?
Today is a reminder:
You don’t have to go back.
Not to the overthinking.
Not to the self-doubt.
Not to the weight you used to carry.
When it tries to pull you in again—pause.
Recognize it.
Challenge it.
Release it.
And remind yourself:
“I’ve been set free—I’m not going back.”
Because what Jesus did wasn’t temporary.
It was complete.
Galatians 5:1 NIV
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
What “old” patterns am I being tempted to return to?
Why does it feel easier to go back than to move forward?
What truth can I hold onto today to stay in freedom?
As you breathe in, whisper: “I am free.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I will not go back.”
Reflection
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for the freedom You’ve given me. Help me to recognize when I’m being pulled back into old ways and give me the strength to choose differently.
Teach me to stand firm in what You’ve already done and to walk forward with confidence.
I choose today not to go back.
Amen.
